The main Lodge reception is approached via the riverside drive-way which
is lined with approximately two hundred mature Scots Pines. Situated in its own
grounds beside the Dulnain river within the Cairngorm National Park in the
heart of the Scottish Highlands, Dalrachney is an ideal base for a memorable
break. Enjoy breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife, castles, museums and
numerous year-round outdoor activities - walking, climbing, fishing, shooting,
golfing, bird-watching, sailing, canoeing, abseiling, skiing, snowboarding.
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the historical village of
Carrbridge described by Queen Victoria as " the jewel of the North".
Dalrachney dates from 1845 and was formerly a Sporting Lodge. There is, in a
local museum, a guncart used by King George V during his stay at Dalrachney
Lodge.
Modern facilities are skilfully blended with original pitched pine
woodwork and high corniced ceilings, Furnishings are in keeping with the
character of the house and original paintings grace many of the rooms. In the
cooler months log fires in the delightful lounge and cosy bar-bistro provide a
warm welcome. The bedrooms are spacious and well-appointed and have magnificent
views. Dalrachney is regularly visited by deer, red squirrels, rabbits and many
kinds of birds. There is even a resident stoat but he is harder to spot.
Dining at Dalrachney augments the Highland experience and the hotel is
recognised for our friendly but efficient service and good food using as far as
possible fresh local produce - game, beef, salmon and trout. vegetarian options
are always available and individual dietary needs can be catered for. Guests
can dine in the traditional Lodge Restaurant or the more informal Stalker's
Bar-Bistro.
