The Tower Hotel, Dovercourt, Harwich, Essex
The Tower Hotel offers superb accommodation set in gorgeous, leafy grounds. We offer high-quality accommodation to ensure you receive an unforgettable holiday.
Our stunning Grade II Listed building dates from 1885, offering unrivalled Victorian elegance. The main feature is a wonderful tower to its northeast corner. The hotel has a wealth of ornamental ceiling cornices, majestic architraves and is crowned by a splendid balustrade.
There is a range of rooms to choose from: singles, twins, standard doubles, suites and kings. Some rooms enjoy stunning views of the River Stour or garden.
Our magnificent restaurant retains all its delicately sculpted ceiling mouldings and cornices that have been faithfully restored and repaired in the original pastel colours whilst crystallin. There is an excellent range of traditional dishes as well as more imaginative and adventurous meals, all complemented by quality wines from our carefully selected wine list. It is perfect for small business receptions, lunch and dinner parties or family celebrations.
Rigby’s Bar offers a wide range of refreshments including popular beers and serves tempting bar meals. It is very popular with non-residents who enjoy pleasant surroundings and friendly ambience.
Dovercourt is the residential and holiday suburb of Harwich and, although more modern in appearance, it is actually older and larger than Harwich and is indeed mentioned in the Domesday Book. Fine promenade areas, an attractive and safe beach – seafront recently awarded the prestigious Blue Flag – parks and entertainments, including choral and band concerts, as well as the fortunate low rainfall, make it a most welcoming town with good hotels and restaurants for those wishing to stay a while. Excellent waters also make sailing, windsurfing and angling pleasurable pastimes.
